Church Life
Sunday School
We have one Sunday School class which includes up to 15 children from 2 to 12 years during the latter part of the church service. We meet in our room in the basement. We learn through stories, prayer, crafts and songs. Each year the members participate in an old fashioned evening Christmas concert. The offering from the concert and the weekly offering covers all costs and allows us to make several donations during the year.
U.C.W. (United Church Women)
This is an active group of the ladies of the congregation who meet for worship, business and a program. They participate in the area rally and World Day of Prayer services. The UCW is the heart of the congregation providing birthday cards, Christmas baskets, coffee hours, leadership in an annual church service and contributing to various charitable causes. Funds are raised with the help of the congregation by catering.
Choir
Our choir sings every second week during worship services and also for special Easter and Christmas services. The choir has hosted a number of evening fund-raising concerts during the past 6 years. These concerts are enjoyed by many people from local communities. Proceeds have been contributed to the building fund and now the emphasis has shifted to outreach and charity. Choir practice takes place in the sanctuary on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
Elders
There are four elders who provide spiritual leadership and guidance and also serve as the trustees. Each elder is elected for a four year term with one election and one retirement each year. The retiring elder may be re-elected. The senior elder is normally the chairperson for the group.
Board of Stewards
The stewards are responsible for the operations of the building and the finances. The committee consists of a wide representation of church members (about12).
Annual Events
The events which take place every year are the Sunday School Sleepover, Strawberry Social, Christmas concert and Christmas pot luck lunch. Other events which we have had during the last few years are euchre parties, gingerbread auction, concerts, and special presentations.
